what's up this Angel from growing green works. We recently went to the broadway market selling our Amazing Chili Starter and our new Super Duper Salsa. It's been fun selling the products face-to-face meeting all different types of people and seeing how much they love our products. the other thing people found interesting is how our business is run by youth and how we help try to get people to eat healthy. At first I was nervous but as the day kept going I started to get more into it. The funny things about it is that some people stared to talk about their hole life story and they wouldn't leave for at least an hour or so. The other thing was that we sold more Chili Starter than the salsa. I was proud of myself for how many jars I sold that day.

Hey what's up guys. It's Carisma again. How have you all been since my last post? We all have been fine here at Growing Green. In fact we just went to a party last night. We went to the Buy Buffalo Bash . It wasn't exactly a party, but it was fun. there is music, food and drinks. The food was donated by all of the vendors who are part of the Buffalo First Organization. Ryan Johnnie donated a bunch of local made sodas. They even came in old fashioned bottles. The great thing about the Buy Buffalo Bash is it starts off Buy Buffalo Week, which is a week dedicated to getting people to buy locally in Buffalo, the Buy Buffalo Bash kicks everything off with a bang. Once a year people get together and plan this event. This year I got to be on channel four news too. The food was great. I only got to try some of it, but from what I tried it was delicious. I most liked the chicken wings and the chili. I really enjoyed myself and can't wait for next year. Next year I hope it will be as fun as it was this year, I also hope whoever brought the chicken wings and the pop come back.

After the activities we asked him some really challenging questions, and yes even us kids got to ask some questions. In my opinion he answered all of the questions to the best of his ability, and that is enough for me. I like Jessie, and I think he would make a nice addition to the growing green family. He will never be a Jason, but now we can say we have our own Jessie.
Hey you fellow bloggers, its Carisma again. How have you been since I talked to you last. We’ve all been fine here at Growing Green Works. Today we got some really great news. Zoe told us that instead of paying $795 per label for both of our labels; we would only have to pay $95. This Lady named Wendy Hess said she would do this process called Computer Generated Nutrition Analysis. The other more expensive process is called Laboratory Analysis. I know it sounds great to do the latter because it is cheaper and would cost us less money. However there are some problems with the Computer Generated Nutrition Analysis. The main problem is it does not analyze the ingredients thoroughly; it just gives the basic facts of what is in the product. This is a problem because it puts a limit on what we can and can not say. One of the things we can’t say is it is healthy. That is a big problem because the name of our salsa is Sano which means healthy in Spanish. This means we are going to have to change the name of our salsa. When you think about it, this is not such a big problem considering we haven’t put our salsa out in stores yet. On the other hand we are allowed to say that our product contains organic ingredients, and super foods, which is good for the body. We also can say our product contains no artificial preservatives and is gluten free. I guess it really is not all that bad, and we do save $700 per product for both of our products. That $700 is money that we are going to need in the future.
Well I have to go I’ll ttyl :-)
Some more tips I gave were just basic things, like speak clearly, present yoursefl in a good manner, and speak as if what you are saying is the most important thing in the entire world at that point in time. In all I would say the presentation went very well. Everyone liked my game. I can't figure out if they thought it was fun or if they liked the fact that they got candy, but they all liked it and wanted to play again.

This week in the business we started looking for options for are new product SONA SALSA.
We have to find a place to get a UPC code and find a place to get the nutrition facts to go on the back of the product.
We have split up to start our EACH ONE TEACH ONE projects_ this is a method used to make ordinary people experts on particular subject, such as "Customer Service and How to display your products."
I am looking up local crops that are available in the fall , spring and winter seasons so that we can produce our products more often during the year.
Soon Growing Green is starting its school year program and we are hiring about 24-25 youth to work.
We are going on a camping trip on the 22ND - 23rd of August to a camp ground in Franklinville, New York. we'll let you know how that turns out in a later blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its hard to get ready for a community function for over two-hundred people but we get it done!
Hey people. We had a great last week. We had our "Be Vocal Eat Local" cook-out where almost three hundred people showed up we held a skit about the benefits of eating healthy instead of picking up a burger at the nearest fast food spot.

Hey guys its me Carisma from Growing Green Works. Well today we did a session on what is and is not participation for our group. We made a big list of what participation really is and is not. Did you know staring off into the distance can be seen as not participating? I of course have to remind myself to not do that during the summer. I have to set a good example for the in comingd kids me being a veteran in all. So if any of you bloggers out there know Marques Houston, please tell him to stay out of my head. On the up side if we bring useful ideas to the group, not having side conversations, and are showing we are really interested in what the group is doing at the time we are participating. We only have five more class days until we break for a few weeks before the summer jobs start so its not a lot of time to get ready to interview and teach and stuff for the new GG youth. Have you ever had a little amount of time to get something memorized and found yourself cramming to mefmorize it? Well that's the exact way I feel right now. The surprising thing is I found that cramming actually works for me. With the help of Zoe and the other people in the business group I know I can learn all the rules not just memorize them.Well I'll talk to you later I have to go. This is Carisma saying over and out.

hey wats good everybody it's your gurl LINA AKA PALESTINIAN PRINCESS!!!! What up how ya doing well as you all know I am from Growing Green Works and well what we were doing yesturday in work preparing for the future of Growing Green Works in the summer time. Our plan for the business group for the summer is having us (the Growing Green Works veterans) teach the new kids about the business group and what we do. We're thinking of activities we can do to build team work. For example we could play the game called "where the wind blows", or the "line game,"and "co-op wrestling game," to name a few. Also, we were thinking of doing each-one-teach-one, thats where we pick a topic and have to reaserch that topic, print handouts and collect information and make copys to teach a subject or a topic to the group. It sounds like a lot of work because it is. I couldn't wait to get mine over and done with, but when you are in the process of teaching it's fun! Did I just say that? I think I did wow!! Shocking Huh? oh yeah. Very soon we will be coming out with a new product that we can do with the new kids and tell them about our 1st product, Amazing Chili Starter. We can spread the word all over because our Amazing Chili Starter was a success!!

Hey fellows bloggers out there. It's Carisma again. Today we played a game of Jamba. In case you forgot what Jamba is, (like Scattegories) it's a game where people think fo words starting with a certain letter relating to different subjects. I of course won the game and the right to brag. I am the Jamba Master. Right now I carry the title, but next time we play the title could get taken away from me. I know I have a pretty cocky attitude, but I personally think I am the Queen of Jamba. I dare anyone to even try to take it away from me. Like I said I'm the Queen of Jamba, and the Queen is always right.
hey it's Carisma again. Today I want to talk about what happened at Virginia Tech. I can't believe thirty- three people were killed by this guy on campus. The news castors said it is the most mass deaths in United States history. I don't know if it is true or not but I heard he shot those people on the campus over his girlfriend. He started in the dorms and then went to the classrooms. Some kids were jumping out of windows to escape the bullets. Today on the news One girls parents were on the news telling about their experience. Their daughter was not one of the victims, but they were frightened. Their daughter called them after the first shooting to let them know she was ok, but didn't after the second. They were not able to get in touch with her. When they called her phone she didn't answer, which scared them worse. They were thanking God their daughter wasn't one od the victims, however they said their hearts og out to the families of the victims. What kind of a person could kill thirty-three people. He also shot and killed himself after killing the other people. We really need peace on this world. It's bad that there is so much hatred in the world, why does there have to be killing to go along with it? If anyone can answer that question for me please let me know.

Hey guess what it's Carisma again. We have a really big problem. The business gruop is running outo f product. Our chili starter is almost gone. I know you are probably worndering why we don't just make some more chili starter? Am I right? Well to answer your question, all of the produce need to make our chili starter is not in season yet. THe produce won't come into season until the end of summer. We are all about using organic produce in our products, and all the produce are roots right now. That is the reason we are going through a process called Research and Development. Which means that we are hoping to develope a new product that grows during the winter and spring months. Some of the produce we are considering are carrots, potatoes, onions, squash, which is available during the winter, and turnips, which are also available during the winter months. I thin our best bet would be to go with the carrots. We can make a lot of things with carrots. We could go with the potatoes also, but I think we should go with the carrots.

Hey it's Charisma again. On Saturday I went to Premiere to do a sales Promotion with Zoe. I think it went very well. We talked to a lot of people about our chili starter. Some already heard of our chili starter and thought it was great. One lady came up to me and she was so excited. I couldn't believe how excited she was. She said she heard about us from her son, and she thought our chili starter was great. Her son also loved it because it is mostly organic. Many people that tried the chili that Zoe made loved it. Many also found it appealing that they could add their own ingredients. Others thought it was great because they could put it in the slow cooker and leave it in the pot for ten hours on low while they go to work. If they wanted a fast meal we told them the slow cooker will cook the chili in five hours if the pot is on high. We started out with four and a half cases, and ended up with two and a half cases left. I would say the day was a success. We even ran out of chili before the sales promotion was over. Some people got just the starter because we were really scraping the bottom at the end.

Hey it’s Carisma again. How have you been? I’ve been great. Our chili starter is doing great. We just had a chili starter promotion at Chateau Buffalo on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. Six different chefs made their own variety of chili starting with our chili starter. All of the chili was good. We even had some vegetarian varieties. The promotion went very well, and according to schedule. At the beginning it was a little slow, but around 2:30 it started to pick up. At 2:00 we opened the doors for people to come in, and start tasting the chili. A lot of people liked the chili with venison in it, especially with the lime. They also liked SaSha’s hot chili. Her chili was extremely hot, yet very good. We really didn’t have to do much. Mostly we filled people’s cups with the kind of chili they wanted. We also told them what was in the different kinds of chili. Our chili was pretty popular also, but in the end it was the spiciness of Sasha’s chili that won her the prize. She won a nice basket that had wine, and some really good chocolate. The chocolate came from Chocoloco, which is a chocolate factory in Buffalo. I’ve been told they have the best chocolate. I don’t know if that is true because I’ve never been there, but someday I hope to go. I’ll tell you a little secret, I love chocolate. The best part was when Channel 2 news was there. I didn’t even see them come in. I looked up and there was the camera right in my face. The first time I saw the camera I looked up and said, “Hi!” I don’t remember if I waved or not but if I did I hope they cut that part out. The promotion was from 2:00 to 5:00, and the whole day was exciting, and fun. I know you are probably thinking I’ve mentioned the food, but I said nothing about anything to drink. Well lucky for us Chateau Buffalo happens to sell wine, and other things to drink. So we provided the food, and they provided the drinks. Of course because there happened to be people under the drinking age, we also served water, and Ginger beer. Ginger beer does not have any alcohol in it whatsoever. It has a ginger flavor to it, and it is really good.

Hey everybody. THis is us at the NOFA Conference. We presented about GRowing GReen Works, our youth enterprise and did a skit about the local food system. This is an unhealthy tomato from a conventional farm being shipped across country in a refrigerated truck for days. Yuk how do you think that'll taste???

today we learned about how to make a press release. Erin taught us about Media Relations and things to get the word out about cool things. All the newspapers are going to get the info and send it out to people around the city. We famous!
We had to make sure to put the who, what, where, when, why in it and make it short and sweet. How can you explain who you are in 4 sentences??? its hard!
well cacth us in the papers!
