Women's History Month Staff Picks! - Vandana Shiva

MAP is celebrating Women’s History Month! This March we are sharing staff picks of influential women throughout history. Today’s pick is from MAP’s Farm Manager Katie! We will be sharing more #Herstory throughout the month so stay tuned for more!

Vandana Shiva (born November 5, 1952, Dehra Dun, Uttaranchal [now Uttarakhand], India), Indian physicist and social activist. In 1982, Shiva founded the Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Natural Resource Policy (RFSTN), an organization devoted to developing sustainable methods of agriculture. She is known for her grassroot organization skills and advocacy for crop diversity. Shiva has also spent much of her career combating global corporations from taking advantage of the biological wealth of poorer nations. She has strived to be an advocate for the autonomy of local farmers.
