MAP is celebrating Women’s History Month! This March we are sharing staff picks of influential women throughout history. Nadiya Hussain

Nadiya Hussain is a Chef, Author and winner of season 6 of the Great Bright Bake Off.
Born in Luton, England in 1984 she was one of 6 siblings. Nadiya married her "Prince Charming" at the age of 20 and moved with him to Leeds. While raising three kids, Nadiya also pursued an Open University Degree to become a Social Worker. She said it was pursuing her degree that led her to start baking, she said "When I felt stressed, I baked!"

Nadiya was encouraged by her husband to apply for the "Great British Bake Off" and was selected for the show. Nadiya rose to the challenge, managing her life long panic disorder while being a contestant. "Every week I filmed and every week I thought I was the next one to leave", which made her surprised when she won her season! Since then Nadiya has been to been able to share her love of cooking and baking with others by writing several books and participating on television specials.
